I was on my way back from a shopping trip last Saturday afternoon and suddenly out of the blue I got an email ‘Do I want to go to the Baftas?’ I immediately thought it was spam and dismissed it, but then a little voice inside my head told me to reply. And sure enough I was on my way to the Baftas.
My first thoughts were panic stricken as I immediately jumped to the conclusion I had nothing to wear. Then I remembered I had a wardrobe full of ball gowns I had collected and never worn for this very reason.
I had less than 24 hours to be red carpet ready and I somehow wasn’t phased as I knew I could count on all my beauty products to transform me into something acceptable. When it comes to makeup I like to splash out and pay that bit of extra cash for the very best products on the market.
I have oily skin that breaks out all the time so when it comes to my base layer I like something I can count on especially to get me through several hours of an event. I use a foundation base by Chanel to smooth out any fine lines I have or bumps from breakouts. I then use Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation – one of my favourites as it’s light but still covers breakouts which is a hard combination to find.
To set everything in place I go in with the Giorgio Armani Loose Powder to give me that little extra security, this product really helps mattify my oily prone sectors without making me looked caked which is always a positive addition to any makeup bag!
My eyes are my favourite part of any evening look and I would never be seen on a red carpet without a dramatic eye. That includes bright concealer and black liner! The concealer I am using at the moment is Lancôme Le Correcteur Pro – it’s two tone palette is great for combatting those dark circles and sleepless nights.
I used the Chanel Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in the shade ‘Fantasma’ for the dark hughes around the edges of my eyelid. Note the longwear effects on all my makeup, for the long lasting look! I always stick to YSL mascaras to perfect the look – I’ve tried all of them and I can’t quite pick my favourite. I love how vivid the black is but most of all I love the fact they don’t leave any marks underneath my eyes like many mascaras do.
The lips are what make or break a look and I always stick to the rule if you go heavy on the eyes go soft on the lips. I used the Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in the shade ‘Adrienne’ as a base colour after lining my lips and then added the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in the shade ‘Rebellious Rose’ to the edges of my lips at the top and bottom specifically to define my cupids bow.
Last but not least the aftercare is the most important part of the beauty regime. After applying a heavy look it is so important to make sure everything comes off. The Clinique Clarifying Lotion really helps rid your skin of any left over makeup that your cleanser might have missed leaving you with a fresh face. I have both the oily version and the dry as my skin goes from eczema riddled to ‘time of the month’ oily and I find switching it up to battle the changes really helps my skin type.
Thank you to House Of Fraser (the official sponsors) for inviting me to such an amazing event. Want to come with me to the Baftas? Great, because I vlogged it! Watch here.
