THE LOST ART OF BLOGGING

You may have noticed that I post less on my blog these days and as I sat staring at five unpublished blog posts this morning (this one included) I thought I probably should address this. I love my little space on the internet where I can talk and post about clothes and beauty products and for me it will always be the place where it began. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t noticed a massive shift in the blogosphere climate in the past year though.  Laura Blair, London Fashion Girl, Tropical Trend, Flowers, Floral, Floral Jumpsuit, Zara, Street Stlye

The industry as a whole is getting bigger and better day by day so that’s not exactly what I mean by the lost art. Instead this written media in the form of a website has taken a big hit by instant video and it’s hard to ignore when there’s big fat analytics staring you in the face. It takes me the same amount of time to produce a blog post as a Youtube video so if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been on my blog then definitely check out my Youtube channel as that’s where I spend most of my time these days. I have 100% been cheating on my blog with Youtube.

This outfit for instance has already been paraded around my Youtube channel three months ago in 3D form where approximately 40,000 people saw it in all its glory. Or on my Instagram stories where they could shop it immediately. People are hungry for instant content and I’ve noticed my blog has dwindled where my Youtube channel has blossomed.

For me I started to favour video content as the barrier between the audience and myself became far less where I can instantly communicate with them and vice versa. I love to watch other bloggers on video as I get to know their personality and I can actually see products and clothes in action rather than in static form.

So I would like to know is a blog still important in this industry – I would love to know your thoughts, personal experience and different perspectives on this!

I will admit that I love watching your Youtube Video’s because they are so inspirational. However, I also enjoy reading your blogs because that too has a place. For someone like me who may be afraid to speak into a camera, blogging gives me the outlet I need to be creative and encourage women of all ages to be who they want to be. So I think that both are relevant when it comes to your audiences needs. x

    Hi Laura Blair!
Thank you for responding messages on instagram. I always enjoy your responces and the interaction with a professional blogger.
To answer the question, I would say that I have noticed a few bloggers that don’t post that often on their web site, but post constantly on instagram and snapchat. But to me having your own web site is the best business card that any blogger could have. It shows your talent and commitment.
