I’d never been to the races before so when I got invited to Newbury Racecourse for ladies day I jumped at the chance. With a bit of a wardrobe malfunction last minute I was able to pull together this little number.
I’m never one to say no to tea so I was very grateful for the opportunity to be treated by the Honesty caterers of Hungerford to Afternoon Tea in an exclusive picnic garden. Everything was made fresh from their own kitchen including the bread with their philosophy being ‘made honestly with care and no additives’ – as such a fussy eater this was a perfect way to spend my afternoon. The Prosecco helped of course!
The dress is old school Missguided, which I manage to recycle over and over again – it’s a trusted favourite whenever I have a wardrobe meltdown before an event. My stilettos are from Topshop, which I picked up an hour before the BAFTAS as every girl needs a pair of nude shoes for these emergencies as they go with everything.
I wanted to keep everything quite simple as there is nothing worse than overdoing it in bright sunshine, I always think it’s best to keep the bling and full glam for the evening. I accessorised with a couple of studded earrings and rings that I usually wear everyday with this gorgeous bag from Very – a perfect Valentino dupe!
Whilst at the event I was asked to judge the Most Stylish Race Goer Competition, the pressure was on as there was an amazing trip to the Seychelles courtesy of Bailey Robinson up for grabs! Check out the winning look below. I spotted this lovely lady before I even knew she was in the final, I just thought she looked so incredibly classy and very Chanel!
Jill’s dress is cream lace, made by Wendy Watters a Hampshire dress designer from an idea she had in her head! The hat is from an Australian brand called Hats from Oz and the bag is from Jacques Vert.
