“You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” – Oscar Wilde
I’m not sure Oscar Wilde knew anything about sparkly jackets or killer heels but his words still remain my everyday mantra. I’m a girl that is rarely seen in flats – heels for me give a presence that elevates a look from ordinary to glam. I for one love the glam life!
I’ve been hit massively by the January blues this year – I kick started the year really ill which gave me zero motivation! So when I’m having those down days I always like to get overdressed almost to counteract the blues. Like some people get their morning hit from coffee I get that buzz from stepping out the house in a pair of sparkly stilettos and ever so fabulous matching jacket.
My first ever ‘real’ job – I say real because I’ve gone through life avoiding offices of any kind. I’ve always said I’d rather work in a zoo cleaning up manure than work a 9-5 job, albeit I would probably still be shovelling in stilettos. For no other reason than I find it hard to sit still, call it cabin fever. Anyway, I managed to do a four month stint in an office once and I found myself wearing the most boring practical clothes just to fit in. I spent everyday feeling terrible but I somehow couldn’t bring myself to wear leopard print, neon, sparkle or anything of the sort.
MY FAVOURITE METALLIC BOOTS
I learnt many things about myself in that period of my life, one was never dress to fit in. Even if I feel uncomfortable in a new environment I learnt to always dress in clothes that make me feel good. This outfit for instance makes me very happy and it’s my ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ ensemble.
JACKET: Boohoo
SHIRT: Naracamicie
SUNGLASSES: Dorothy Perkins
JEANS: All Saints
BOOTS: Public Desire
WATCH: Rotary
BANGLE: Swarovski
BAG: Romwe
This jacket is Boohoo’s take on Balmain and perfect to jazz up office attire or even over a dress on a night out. I love both designer and high street, you will have noticed I mix it up – sometimes I have a dupe, sometimes I have the real thing. I tend to invest in staples though rather than trends. Something like this jacket I opted for the high street equivalent as it’s fun for this season and perfect for certain occasions. I prefer to go designer on everyday bags, coats, boots. There is theory behind my mix-it-up madness! As I always say a price tag doesn’t define you – style does!
