It’s that time of year when shopping lists are drawn up, presents are bought and we’re constantly asked to reveal what it is we want. It’s human nature to long for things we don’t have or lust after what others have that sometimes we forget all the amazing things we have in our lives.
I’m very lucky as a blogger to receive a lot of amazing things through the post which I’ve never taken for granted, especially as I started with pretty much nothing. The one thing about my job that I’m very grateful for is that it put materialism into perspective. No matter how many gifts you have material possessions never make you happy – the consumerism happiness is a short fleeting feeling that soon passes.
Experiences and people are the key to happiness. So whether you’re at an exquisite banquet this christmas or a small makeshift meal it doesn’t matter. Richness isn’t valued by the possessions you have but by the company you keep.
When I look back over this year I don’t remember the items I bought but the good times I had. Which leads me on to partywear. My connection with clothing isn’t to do with possession but how they make me feel. Stepping out and feeling fabulous can makes such a difference. Ever had those times when your outfit just didn’t work and it made you not feel very good about yourself? I started Youtube because I wanted to make women feel good about themselves so they could go out conquer the world!
Putting outfits together can be a tricky business so I’ve styled out some looks to give you some inspiration for your festive activities. I’ve headed back to Marks & Spencer once again as I’ve fallen head over heels in love with this brand over the past months. They’ve upped their fashion game massively and not only are they stocking fashion forward pieces but ones of such good quality too.
Anything I’ve ever owned from Mark & Spencer has lasted years meaning that I can go out and feel good about myself in it over and over again.
I’ve slightly changed my mindset when shopping for clothes – I look for things that are timeless. Here I’ve opted for a sparkly sequin skirt which I know will be coming out every year to play. By pairing it with a beautiful white blouse it creates a really elegant look but I can also wear the blouse throughout the year. The blouse would look stunning with some black trousers and a handbag for workwear!
