THE INDUSTRY

THE INDUSTRY

– WHAT I’VE LEARNT SO FAR – Two years ago I was in my final year of university – a ‘mature’ student obviously. I was a bit late to the game when figuring out what I wanted to do in life. It was right about now actually that I could just about see the finish line in April 2015. Everybody had jobs lined up and knew where they wanted to go and what they wanted to do but I still hadn’t got a clue. I had a CV of journalism, PR, styling and design internships under my belt, years of…

LAST NIGHT IN PARIS

LAST NIGHT IN PARIS

 – SHOPS & CHAMPAGNE – My final night in Paris was spent at the Hôtel Etoile Saint Honoré by HappyCulture perfectly located at the west end of the Champs Elysees and a five minute walk from all the shops. Of course I had to wander along down my favourite road in Paris – Avenue Montaigne – scattered with the world’s most influential designer flagship stores. It’s worth having a look just for the eccentric and magnificent window displays and a browse the latest ‘IT’ bags of the moment. I’d done my fair bit of sightseeing so when the porter escorted…

PARIS DIARIES

PARIS DIARIES

– THE HEART OF PARIS – Nestled away in the heart of Paris Hôtel Thérèse is simply beautiful. Next door to Palais Royal and moments from the Louvre it was perfect to catch all the top tourist attractions at sunrise before the streets of Paris became busy. The room felt like an apartment of my own with a walk in wardrobe, lounge area, desk space, bathroom and of course a luxurious bed that I could have stayed in forever. With all the hotels I’ve stayed in these past few weeks I’ve become quite the bed connoisseur and I can safely…

CITY VIEWS

CITY VIEWS

– HOTEL TRIANON RIVE GAUCHE – “There are only two places in the world where we can live happy – at home and in Paris.” ~ Ernest Hemingway I suppose Ernest was on to something here as heading to Paris twice in one month definitely blew away the cobwebs of any past woes. They say time is a healer but actually so is Paris and a few cocktails. I usually think travelling is stressful but in actual fact it’s quicker and cheaper for me to get to Paris than to London. So who wants to join me for cocktails in Paris next…

LE THÉÂTRE

LE THÉÂTRE

– THE THEATRE DISTRICT – Once upon a time there was a girl with a slight obsession with shoes. They were shoes of all varieties, some small, some tall, but the highest and those that glittered the most were always secretly her favourite. She dreamt that one day she would walk the world in glorious footwear, wearing a different pair to dance around each city. Her fascination of beautiful clothes in beautiful places led her to this exact spot – the city of love, c’est Paris! Which brings me to my next hotspot ‘Hotel Sacha’ a boutique hotel in the…

HÔTEL ADÈLE & JULES

HÔTEL ADÈLE & JULES

– POST CARDS FROM PARIS – I’ve always been a traveller, since a young age I’ve lived in Baltimore, Chicago, Beirut and Cannes. There’s something about stepping outside of your bubble, your comfort zone, that allows you to gain a whole new perspective on this thing we call life. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in minuscule, meaningless things that when we untie ourselves and escape a million miles away from home it somehow aligns what’s important in life – and more importantly who. Packing my life up into a suitcase became the norm in my early twenties but…

C’EST PARIS

C’EST PARIS

– DAPPLING IN DESIGNER – When off to France I get so inspired by the Parisian style that dappling in designer is almost a must. Keeping it simple with a designer scarf wafted over your shoulder or a pair of shades that you know speak volumes all on their own. For many waltzing along New Bond Street with an overflow of spare cash is out of the question, it definitely is for me anyway. However I still long for those high end designs that just look stunning with any outfit. That said I pick my designer items and where I…

CONCRETE JUNGLE

CONCRETE JUNGLE

São Paulo was a destination I never dreamed I’d get the chance to go to – not in million years! Somehow I was on a plane flying business class to said destination not quite believing my luck. If anyone mentioned Brazil to me prior to my trip I would have imagined a mass of jungle, naively not really knowing much else about the country. Flying with KLM was an absolute dream and there’s never been a trip yet where I’ve looked forward to flying before. I peered out the window, shocked to see a concrete jungle beneath me, wildly differing from the…

RIO ADVENTURES

RIO ADVENTURES

A trip to Rio De Janeiro, aka a once in a lifetime opportunity and the most memorable trip of my life. Arriving at midnight, glimpsing out the window I could just make out the outline of the Favela district, with glimmers of light peering out from the huts. As we approached Copacabana beach Christ The Redeemer shone like a beacon illuminating the darkness from the mountain tops. The waves were metres high crashing along the coast line, the entire beach lit up by flood lights with people playing volley ball and relaxing at the dead of night. Stepping out the…

ROOFTOP PARADISE

ROOFTOP PARADISE

NEXT STOP RIO… In a whirlwind we boarded the plane from São Paulo to Rio and landed in the beautiful Copacabana beach. Our stay was spent at the JW Marriott hotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it was beyond paradise. I had to take a few quick snaps on the Marriott rooftop before we headed to Sugar Loaf Mountain – if anyone is heading to Brazil this is definitely a must see! This babydoll dress from Topshop was the perfect breezy ensemble to tackle the thirty degree heat. The hat was from Copacabana beach itself from a man who spent his days walking miles up and down…
